The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has revealed details regarding Evolution's settlement of £4.75 million following a review of its licensing practices. During this process, the B2B and live casino provider was found to have its games featured on six unlicensed gambling websites that were accessible to customers in the UK.
The regulator noted that these sites were operated by two unnamed companies and offered Evolution's games without the necessary UK license from December 2023 to November 2024. In addition, the UKGC identified shortcomings in Evolution's anti-money laundering (AML) measures. They found that the company’s risk assessment was outdated and failed to identify the risks associated with games being made available by unlicensed operators. It also noted that Evolution did not meet customer due diligence standards or implement effective policies to prevent these issues.
Acknowledging its violations of licensing regulations, Evolution agreed to the settlement terms, which include hiring an independent reviewer to assess its AML procedures. The Commission considered the option of suspending Evolution’s UK license but ultimately decided against it, citing the company’s cooperation and corrective actions taken to address the identified problems.
