Tim Miller, who has served as the Executive Director of Research and Policy at the Gambling Commission, announced his departure in September. In this role, Miller led the Commission’s Policy and Research functions, playing a pivotal role in implementing the Government’s Gambling White Paper. He was instrumental in creating the Gambling Survey for Great Britain and in overseeing the comprehensive review of the Gambling Act, which was completed last year, culminating in the final report on that review.
In a recent LinkedIn post, Miller expressed his sentiments: "The Commission has been the most enjoyable and fulfilling part of my career so far and I’ve been so lucky to work with such brilliant people who care deeply about getting regulation right. But for me, ten years always felt like the right point to take on a new challenge."
Miller's tenure with the regulator began in 2016, spanning a decade. Following his departure, he plans to transition into an international advisory role, departing from the UK regulatory sector. In his post, he noted, "I’ve always been a public servant but am now looking forward to working for myself. This is going to include working internationally with a number of governments, regulators, and organisations that are focused on supporting the development of well-regulated and competitive markets. More on that later in September after my last day at the Commission."
The Gambling Commission confirmed that Miller will remain in his current role until the end of September, after which more details regarding his successor will be released.
