GamleAware will sustain long-term funds for TalkBanStop. The three-way initiative will gain additional funding to continue to provide free tools and support over a three-year period.
The GamCare , Gamban , and GAMSTOP Alliance will be able to offer free software licenses to the former. They will also increase awareness about the benefits of using all three levels of support for those who wish to stop gambling.
The trio has also stated that they want to encourage more people use bank gambling blocks for additional support.
Anna Hargrave explains: “It is important to provide people with the tools and support they need to reduce or stop gambling. As commissioners for the National Gambling Support Network we know how important it is to ensure that people have the tools, support and help they need.
We are delighted to continue funding TalkBanStop, and the providers who provide it.
The TalkBanStop Partnership has been providing vital support since its launch to thousands of people who are experiencing gambling harms. Its layered approach offers a variety of tools that can help address the complex needs of those most in need.
TalkBanStop was launched late in 2020 and advocates the layering different tools and supports, which, according to the group, is “evidenced as being more effective than using one tool alone”.
The initiative provides a combination of support from GamCare’s specially trained advisers and free access to Gamban Blocking Software via the National Gambling Helpline. It also includes a link to GAMSTOP, allowing self-exclusion.
It has enabled over 12,000 people to install Gamban’s blocking software for free.
GamCare’s Chief Executive, Anna Hemmings said: “We are delighted to have secured long-term and sustainable funding for our partnership with TalkBanStop, as we continue to work towards our common goal of reducing harms associated with gambling.”
Since we began the partnership, combining our knowledge as organisations has proven to be a great benefit. We look forward in the future to working even more closely together.
The free tools and support are available to all.
