The government introduced new advertising regulations for betting operators on Thursday, including risk warnings from the Ministry of Finance related to betting activities. These regulations are expected to be published in the Federal Official Gazette soon.
The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) expressed its support for the new advertising rules and called for rigorous compliance from operators. However, the association stressed the need for enhanced oversight alongside these measures, especially to combat advertising by illegal platforms. According to ANJL, such illegal platforms function without federal authorization, evade taxes, and disregard existing advertising guidelines.
ANJL also noted several critical issues concerning these unlawful sites, including their failure to implement anti-money laundering systems, prevent minors from accessing betting content, or address compulsive gambling effectively.
The association pointed out that illegal platforms not only neglect regulatory standards but also pose risks to the betting sector's reputation through non-compliance and harmful practices. The ANJL believes that only through well-defined regulations can a sustainable betting market be formed.
In its statement, ANJL reiterated its commitment to supporting the government's new advertising initiatives while stressing that the measures must be coupled with reinforced oversight to effectively tackle illegal operators.
"The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) supports the Ministry of Finance's new advertising rules and advocates for strict compliance with the regulations, without compromising the operations of companies that function legally and are subject to oversight by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets," the organization stated.
ANJL further highlighted the importance of holding accountable those who carry out advertising campaigns that violate current regulations. Such campaigns, they argue, damage the sector's image and warrant appropriate actions from the relevant authorities.
