DraftKings has celebrated the opening of its new retail sportsbook in Kansas with a ribbon-cutting event at the location of its betting partner, Boot Hill Casino.
As reported by local outlet KWCH, DraftKings has officially opened its 2,500 square-foot retail sportsbook at Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City as it allows retail bettors to enjoy an improved betting experience.
The sportsbook offers a 17-foot LED screen, several HD televisions, two cashier stations, four kiosks, and a sportsbook seating area with food and drink options.
Marking the grand opening, DraftKings Football Analyst and podcast host Mike Golic Jr joined DraftKings officials for the ceremony and held a meet and greet session with punters afterward.
Speaking to KWCH at the event, Golic Jr said: “This gives smart sports fans, which there are so many of them now, even more added ways to get excited about it. To feel like they can take their knowledge and apply it in a way they might make them a little money but also just gives them a little added rooting interest.”
DraftKings has been one of the main players in the Kansas online sports betting market since it opened in September of last year.
According to data from the Kansas Lottery, DraftKings handled $74m during February, leading the way in that particular metric in the Sunflower State.
Despite this, the firm didn’t generate any revenue, during February, joining Barstool, BetMGM, and Caesars with $0 in revenue. In fact, only PointsBet ($24.6k) and FanDuel ($11.3k) made any money from online sports betting in Kansas during February.
DraftKings will hope to begin making money from its online operations in Kansas as well as asserting itself on the retail scene by enticing more customers with its new sportsbook.
