Georgia is actively promoting its five-year International iGaming Licence to attract international operators as the first companies prepare to launch their services under this new scheme. The Gambling Regulation Agency of Georgia, tasked by the government to oversee gambling, has confirmed that the licensing trial commenced three months ago and is now progressing towards wider implementation.
Designed to appeal to international businesses targeting non-Georgian audiences, this scheme strictly prohibits Georgian citizens from accessing the licensed services. The licensing package includes access to Georgian commercial banking and the ability to process payment transactions using the gambling MCC code 7995.
In September, the Georgia International Strategic Group (GISG) began marketing the initiative, highlighting a favorable tax structure. The tax on gross gaming revenue is set at 5%, and an additional governmental monitoring fee of 1% results in a total tax of 6%, including an annual fee. Notably, companies will not face corporate taxes on profits that are reinvested.
Those interested in obtaining the licence can do so from their existing offices, with no requirement to establish a physical presence in Georgia. The future modifications to operator terms may be introduced as the companies utilize the scheme, with potential updates expected by October 2026.
