Spotlight Sports Group is venturing into the games market for the first time through a new partnership with Engage Games. This collaboration, announced on Thursday, allows Spotlight's global sportsbook operators to access unique games developed in conjunction with its partners.
This move signifies Spotlight’s inaugural step into gaming, blending the company's extensive product and content distribution capabilities with Engage Games' established platform in both free-to-play and pay-to-play arenas.
As operators increasingly embrace free-to-play games to enhance engagement, retention, reactivation, and acquisition, Spotlight anticipates significant benefits from this entry into the gaming sector.
The offerings will feature various game mechanics, including fantasy, predictor, survivor, and bet builder formats, with racing games supported by Spotlight’s Smart View Engine.
Rob Brown, Spotlight’s B2B Growth Director, emphasized that this partnership will significantly enhance their offerings, merging Engage's gaming engine with Spotlight’s robust data and distribution network.
“This partnership marks a significant step for SSG as we extend our product capability into the games space,” Brown stated. He noted that Engage Games is a partner known for delivering commercially successful games for its collaborators.
Engage Games founder Ryan Lawrence expressed excitement about the alliance. He remarked, “Partnering with SSG – one of the most trusted names in global racing and sports betting – reflects the reputation and results we’ve built, and it’s the natural next step in our mission to provide better game experiences for more players.” Lawrence added that this partnership will allow them to showcase their performance-driven capabilities to operators and rights holders worldwide.
In other news, Spotlight, which owns the Racing Post media outlet, appointed Adam Gill as its new CTO in June, an effort linked to ongoing investments in expanding its product offerings. Gill, formerly of Savanta, will oversee technology and engineering initiatives to engage new audiences.
“As Racing Post enters its 40th year, there is a real opportunity to use technology to engage new audiences, deepen the value we deliver to operators, and integrate AI as a practical capability across the business,” Gill commented.
Earlier this year, Spotlight revealed its 2026 Racing Innovation strategy, which includes launching two new products, the Smart View Tipping Feed and Racing Bet Builder. Both offerings aim to provide modern, algorithm-driven tools designed to enhance customer engagement and streamline the betting experience.
