Swipe Games: Casino Gaming for the TikTok Generation

Casino operators are increasingly faced with the challenge of attracting a younger demographic accustomed to a fast-paced, digital environment. These potential players, who thrive on simplicity and instant gratification, find traditional betting experiences daunting and disconnected from the quick, dynamic content prevalent on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

The need for a new approach became evident to George Yashin during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. With over 15 years of experience across various sectors—including fashion technology, retail hardware, and sneaker cleaning—Yashin found himself stymied by the complexity of placing a football bet. When he diverted to casino games, he noted that they lacked significant innovation since the slot machines he had encountered in the past.

Yashin recalled thinking, "What if you could bet on the result of a short video or a short TikTok?" This idea birthed Swipe Games, a Cyprus-based venture aiming to carve out a unique niche within the casino industry. Despite its recent entrance into the market, having begun commercial sales in late 2022, Swipe Games has rapidly gained attention and established several partnerships.

Unlike traditional casinos, Swipe Games draws inspiration from the familiar structure of social media feeds. Players engage with a continuous stream of short videos, selecting potential outcomes in just three to five seconds, such as whether a penalty shot in a football game results in a goal, a miss, or a save. If they are uninterested in a clip, they can swipe up for another option.

Yashin describes the game’s mechanics: “We are as quick as crash games, but the pattern and the feel are more like betting.” By merging the excitement of betting with the fast-paced experience of social media consumption, Swipe Games aims to lower the learning curve for new players.

The swift market response to Swipe Games underscores the simplicity of its concept. After only beginning sales at the end of 2022, Yashin reports signing approximately 30 to 40 contracts with operators like BGaming, SoftSwiss, and 1xBet. Feedback from industry professionals has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how easy they find it to pitch the product.

Data from initial player engagement supports Yashin’s claims that Swipe Games offers more than just an appealing interface. With gameplay rounds lasting around eight to ten seconds, early indications suggest players exhibit behaviors more akin to sports betting rather than typical crash games, with some markets showing average bets significantly higher than crash game averages.

To maintain player engagement, Swipe Games relies on generative AI to continuously refresh its video library and keep the content relevant. With over 20,000 videos produced, the company is positioned to release new games or content every two weeks. Yashin explains that each team member is supported by AI technologies, enhancing their productivity and efficiency.

Swipe Games aims for a lofty goal: to reach €600 million in monthly bet volume. However, Yashin envisions a future where Swipe Games transcends a simple game category. Instead, he imagines a seamless integration into the casino landscape, where players can engage with a dedicated Swipe button, curating a personalized content experience.

As Yashin observes, the industry is on the brink of embracing innovative technologies. He predicts rapid adoption of AI-driven features, even in areas like live casino interactions with AI-generated characters. While others may attempt to replicate the swipe game format, Yashin is confident that they would struggle to match Swipe's speed and creativity.

Yashin believes the industry's evolution has historically been driven by innovative gaming formats, and Swipe Games could be the next breakthrough in casino experiences. "People always need something new,” he states. “I think the next wave is games with more content inside, and we see swipe games as potentially being the next wave."
