Macau's gaming tax revenue for the first eight days of August 2026 climbed to MOP66.17 billion ($8.24 billion), marking an increase of 6.9% compared to MOP61.88 billion ($7.71 billion) during the same period in 2025. This revenue represents roughly 71.5% of the government's total budget of MOP92.53 billion ($11.52 billion) allocated for gaming tax.
However, the gaming tax revenue for August faced an 8% decline, totaling MOP7.83 billion ($975 million), down from MOP8.51 billion ($1.06 billion) in August 2025.
Gaming has continued to play a vital role in Macau's economy, contributing nearly all of the MOP66.32 billion ($8.26 billion) in concession revenue through August. The balance came from other public utility service concessions, amounting to MOP146.56 million ($18.3 million).
Overall, the government collected MOP77.77 billion ($9.68 billion) in revenue during this timeframe, reflecting a 7.2% increase from 2025. Gaming accounted for about 85.1% of the total revenue generated in this period.
In terms of government expenditure, Macau spent MOP58.81 billion ($7.32 billion) over the first eight months of the year. This resulted in a central account balance of MOP18.95 billion ($2.36 billion), which is an improvement over the MOP15.01 million ($1.87 million) balance in the same timeframe in 2025. This uptick highlights stronger overall government revenue, even in the wake of decreased gaming tax receipts in August.
