Genius Sports Launches Prediction Markets Affiliate for Real-Time Sports Data

On Thursday, Genius Sports unveiled a new prediction market affiliate site, designed to consolidate pricing and market insights from various prediction market platforms while incorporating live sports data.

This platform, named Prediction.com, has been developed by Legend, previously acquired by Genius Sports for $1.2 billion. It enables users to compare event contracts across multiple exchanges and observe the changing probabilities of markets as sporting events progress.

The integration of Genius Sports’ official in-game data with live market pricing allows users to follow events play-by-play while monitoring real-time market probabilities, prices, and signals. Users can evaluate contracts directly against one another and analyze multi-leg scenarios across different venues, bolstering their decision-making process. A notable feature of Prediction.com is its proprietary cross-venue engine, which facilitates the comparison of complex contract combinations.

Genius Sports mentioned in a statement that Prediction.com aims to mitigate the "fragmentation" that arises when users navigate through different platforms to gather pricing information.

"As the category continues to grow, robust integrity safeguards are not simply optional; they are foundational," remarked Sean Conroy, EVP of rights and partnerships at Genius Sports, regarding the platform's launch.

He added, "By bringing together official data, live streaming, league IP, integrity services, and the reach of our Legend media network, we are helping Polymarket deliver a differentiated and trusted experience for sports fans across the US."

In August, Genius signed agreements with Polymarket and Kalshi to supply real-time event data, league integrity services, and streaming capabilities. Similarly, Sportradar announced multi-year collaborations with both Kalshi and Polymarket earlier in June.

The introduction of Prediction.com coincides with a strategic integration phase for Genius Sports following its acquisition of Legend and aligns with the start of the NFL season in the US, a critical commercial period for monetizing sports data. Genius has also extended partnerships with DraftKings and FanDuel, both of which reaffirmed their roles as NFL partners at the start of this season.

Jordan Bender, a gaming analyst at Citizens, observed that with the NFL season in full swing, "Genius should benefit from increased spending across both traditional sports betting and the emerging prediction market industry." He noted that Genius’ recent arrangements with Kalshi and Polymarket create an additional positive momentum for the team led by Mr. Kisberg.

He stated, "We think investors will be looking for signs that Genius can leverage Legend’s relationship to capture a larger share of the expanding sports betting and prediction market opportunity."

Mark Locke, founder and CEO of Genius, emphasized the company’s role as a supplier of official data, settlement, and integrity services to various betting and prediction platforms. In a personal LinkedIn post, he affirmed that through Legend and their broader media platform, they assist operators in acquiring customers.

"That is why I see prediction markets as a net benefit for Genius. I believe they create more businesses to supply, more ways to monetize the same sports activity, and more competition for the customers we help operators win," Locke concluded.
