Esportes Gaming Brasil (EGB), the parent company of the Esportes da Sorte, Onabet, and Lottu brands, has earned the distinction of being the first iGaming company recognized in the IIA May Brazil campaign by the Institute of Internal Auditors of Brazil (IIA Brazil). This achievement was marked by the presentation of the IIA May Brazil 2026 Winning Company seal, along with a trophy and certificate, during a ceremony on July 23.
The campaign is designed to raise awareness of Internal Audit during May, celebrated as International Internal Audit Awareness Month. It aims to clarify the purpose of Internal Audit while showcasing its vital contributions to governance, risk management, internal controls, and strategic decision-making.
EGB stands out as the inaugural iGaming entity to gain recognition from IIA Brazil, joining around 100 other recognized organizations in 2026, including notable names like Petrobras, Banco Bradesco, Grupo Mateus, and Vale. This cohort also comprises firms within the Caixa ecosystem alongside other prominent Brazilian corporations.
Carol Luna, Head of Compliance at Esportes Gaming Brasil, remarked, "Being the first iGaming company recognized in the IIA May Brazil campaign is a significant milestone for both our group and the wider industry. Regulation has ushered in a new era of professionalism, where growth, innovation, and efficiency must go hand in hand with strong governance, integrity, and the ability to anticipate risk."
To qualify for participation in the IIA May Brazil 2026 campaign, organizations had to meet specific criteria, which included sharing at least four original content pieces on their official social media platforms and implementation of two internal or external initiatives like webinars, presentations, or training sessions. All efforts required evidence that was submitted to IIA Brazil for review.
A panel of IIA Brazil representatives evaluated eligible organizations based on various factors, including the relevance and quality of content, creativity, originality, engagement, and the diversity of initiatives. Throughout the month of May, Esportes Gaming Brasil fulfilled these criteria by producing educational videos that highlighted the role of Internal Audit, addressing prevalent myths, and detailing the establishment of the company's new Internal Audit function.
Additionally, the campaign featured the Audit EGB Webinar, a session that fostered open dialogue and was broadcast to EGB employees, emphasizing the strategic importance of Internal Audit in the iGaming sector. The company also hosted an in-person training program for professionals involved in the second and third lines of defense, uniting representatives from Internal Audit, Quality, Compliance, and Monitoring.
Luna noted, "Our goal was to bring Internal Audit closer to our people and demonstrate that the function is not isolated or focused solely on identifying non-compliance. It is a strategic partner that transforms information into meaningful insights, drives continuous improvement, and helps the business build more efficient processes and stronger controls."
The awards ceremony was held after the 2026 Chief Audit Executives (CAE) Meeting, which convened Internal Audit leaders from various organizations across Brazil to discuss emerging trends and challenges in the profession.
