BC.GAME Launches Sports Betting in Ghana, Expanding African Presence

BC.GAME has officially launched its sports betting and online casino platform in Ghana following the acquisition of regulatory approval. This development, announced on Wednesday, represents BC.GAME's third foray into a regulated market, adding to its existing operations in Mexico and Nigeria, the latter of which began earlier this year.

The platform is now available at bcgame.com.gh, signaling its compliance with local regulations enforced by the Gaming Commission of Ghana, the country's regulatory body for gambling. Adrian Chen, senior legal counsel at BC.GAME, expressed that this launch is a significant achievement in the company's strategy for regulated expansion.

"Ghana has a well-established regulatory framework, and entering the market in accordance with local licensing requirements represents an important step in BC.GAME’s regulated growth strategy," Chen remarked. He added that their commitment lies in operating with transparency and responsibility, providing clear information to local users, and ensuring alignment with Ghanaian regulatory standards. "We look forward to building a sustainable, long-term presence in the market," he concluded.

BC.GAME highlighted Ghana’s well-structured gaming regulation as a key factor in its decision to enter the market. The country’s connected populace, along with its vibrant football and digital entertainment scene, were also attractive considerations. To better cater to Ghanaian users, BC.GAME has tailored its platform for local accessibility.

Data from H2 Gambling Capital indicates that Ghana's online gross win in 2025 is projected to reach $903.5 million, marking a 24% increase from 2024’s figure of $729.8 million. While South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya are traditionally seen as the dominant markets in African gambling, Ghana is emerging as a noteworthy player. Peter Kesitilwe, CEO of the African iGaming Alliance, previously noted that Ghana is recognized for its strong regulatory environment, which enhances its commercial appeal.

"Ghana has developed a reputation as one of West Africa’s most stable and commercially attractive markets," Kesitilwe explained. He identified the nation’s regulatory maturation and political stability as crucial factors in attracting investor interest, stating, "So many operators now see Ghana as an important strategic growth market within the region."

BC.GAME's move into Ghana follows the launch of Kaizen Gaming’s Betano brand in the country earlier this year in February.

However, BC.GAME's journey has not been without challenges. The operator withdrew its license in Curaçao in December, citing an increasingly hostile operating environment. This decision followed a court ruling which deemed BC.GAME bankrupt due to its failure to settle player debts. Additionally, the company lost its white label license in the UK, leading to concerns regarding its sponsorship deal with the English football club Leicester City. In response to the bankruptcy claims, BC.GAME maintained that it had no liquidity or financial stability issues, emphasizing its ongoing global growth and regulatory expansion.
