Allwyn UK CEO Andria Vidler Resigns, Phil Walker Appointed Interim

Andria Vidler has announced her resignation from the position of CEO of Allwyn UK, effective September 7. Phil Walker, a seasoned industry professional, will assume the role on an interim basis, as confirmed on Wednesday.

Vidler, who has been with Allwyn UK since October 2023, played a pivotal role in the company’s journey as the operator of the UK National Lottery. Together with Allwyn UK Chair Justin King, she decided that her departure comes at an appropriate time in the company’s evolution.

In order to facilitate a smooth transition, Vidler will continue in an advisory role until the end of October. King expressed his gratitude for Vidler’s contributions, particularly acknowledging her efforts in achieving what he described as a “much-needed and long-overdue transformation” of the National Lottery.

“With key transition milestones behind us, it is the right time to look ahead and build on the groundwork already established for future growth,” King stated.

Vidler reflected on her tenure, noting that the transformation of the National Lottery is a lengthy process. She believes that with the significant changes now accomplished, this is an appropriate juncture for her to pass leadership to someone new.

A source informed iGB that Allwyn’s priorities in the UK remain steadfast, emphasizing the modernization of the National Lottery, prioritizing player safety, and bolstering support for good causes.

Phil Walker, who takes over as interim CEO, has an extensive background in the gambling industry. He previously spent six years at William Hill in various high-level roles, including online managing director and Chief Commercial Officer. Most recently, he served as a non-executive director at City Gaming Limited.

Those familiar with the company’s operations believe that Walker is well-equipped to manage Allwyn UK during the search for Vidler’s permanent successor. Walker expressed enthusiasm about building on the advancements achieved under Vidler’s leadership and continuing the National Lottery’s positive impact on communities.

“I am excited and proud to be taking up the baton from Andria and joining such a vital national institution at this important stage of its growth journey,” he said. “As a long-standing National Lottery player, I appreciate the difference it makes to communities across the UK and this is a major reason I was drawn to this role. It will be a true honor to contribute to the ongoing progress.”
