Lithuania's revenue for the first nine months of the year reached €161 million, surpassing the $139.8 million recorded during the same timeframe the previous year. The Gaming Control Authority, responsible for regulating the gambling sector in Lithuania, reported growth in both online and land-based markets. Remote gambling stood out, generating €107 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR), a 24.4% increase compared to €86 million last year. The land-based gambling sector also saw a modest rise, with GGR increasing by 0.4% to €54 million.
Online slot machines were the top revenue generators, accumulating over €72 million throughout the nine-month period. Specifically, GGR from Category A online slots amounted to $69.5 million, reflecting a significant 33.7% increase, while GGR for Category B slots rose 18.2% to €2.6 million. The total GGR from online slot machines reached €72.1 million.
In other online gambling sectors, sports betting revenue dipped slightly by 1.1%, totaling €26.1 million, whereas table games saw a considerable uptick with GGR climbing 63.0% to €8.8 million.
In the land-based market, Category B slot machines brought in €22.9 million in GGR, which represented a 3.0% decrease from the €23.6 million reported in 2022. However, Category A slots fared better, with revenue increasing by 13.0% to €11.3 million. Retail sports betting experienced a drop of 10.5%, bringing in €6.8 million, while land-based table games saw a 3.2% decline in GGR to €12.9 million.
The Gaming Control Authority also disclosed lottery revenue figures for the same nine-month period. Total revenues were up 15.5% to €46.3 million, even as ticket sales declined by 7.4% to 73.9 million. Player winnings also decreased by 2.9%, totaling €55.7 million. These lottery figures include operators managing larger lotteries available to Lithuanian consumers.
