Super Group, the operator of Betway, has named Elen Barber as its chief marketing officer. She was previously with Kindred Group.

This appointment takes effect immediately. Barber, who will serve as CMO for Super Group in London, is now officially appointed.

Barber has been with Kindred for more than thirteen years. She held various marketing roles, including that of director of brand marketing and affiliate manager.

In September 2023, she will leave the company. She served as the CMO for the last two years. Barber left Kindred alongside chief commercial officer Anne-Jaap Snijders.

The confirmation of the two departures comes just a few days after CEO Henrik Tjarnstrom, and Chief Financial Officer Johan Wilsby announced they would be also leaving.

Barber revealed her new position at Super Group via LinkedIn. Barber said, “I am excited to announce some exciting news. I will be starting a brand new role as CMO for Super Group.” I’m thrilled to be joining this team of innovators and look forward to all the challenges that lie ahead.

Super Group enjoys record 2023

Barber joins Super Group after a successful 2023. Barber also spoke at ICE 2020.

Super Group has generated EUR1.40bn in the last year (PS1.20bn/$1.52bn), which is a record. The amount exceeded the guidance for EUR1.35bn and increased 11% from EUR1.3bn to EUR1.40bn.

Super Group, however, also reported a decline of 92.2% in its profit before taxes, which fell to EUR16.8m. This decline was attributed by the operator to EUR64.6m in non-cash expenses.

This included EUR28.6m from the acquisition in January 2023 of Digital Gaming Corporation, an online betting and gaming business. Super Group was able to expand into the US in the beginning of this year.

In 2023, the operational EBITDA fell from EUR208.5m down to EUR197.3m. Super Group also reported that unrestricted funds fell EUR12.9m to EUR241.9m. This was due, again, to the DGC purchase.

Super Group sells DGC B2B Division

Super Group announced the result of its latest major acquisition, the B2B assets from DGC.

The agreement reached in January was completed exactly one year later, on February 1. The financial terms of the deal were not revealed by either party.

DGC B2B operates in many US states, including Pennsylvania, Iowa and New Jersey. Arizona, Colorado, Indiana Virginia, Ohio, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Louisiana.

Super Group CEO Neal Menashe stated that the sale will allow the operator to concentrate on global B2C expansion.
