OpticOdds, the backbone of sports data for nearly 200 sportsbooks globally, has now merged with Perplexity, providing Pro and Max subscribers with enhanced capabilities for sports betting inquiries. This integration signifies the first time institutional-level market data has been directly accessible to consumers through an AI platform, eliminating the need for a separate OpticOdds subscription or additional setup.
With this new feature, Pro and Max subscribers can query Perplexity Computer on various sports betting topics, including line shifts, player prop details, injury effects, and market comparisons, all fueled by OpticOdds’ real-time data stream. This low-latency infrastructure, which is crucial for the operations of sportsbooks, exchanges, and leading prediction markets, has now been made available to consumers, showcasing OpticOdds' ability to handle over one million requests per second.
Matt Restivo, Senior Vice President of Sports Data Services at Gambling.com Group, remarked: "For two decades, the commercial-grade data underneath real-time markets has lived inside professional trading desks. This is the first time that infrastructure reaches consumers directly. AI is becoming the distribution layer for the data that real markets run on. Sports is one of the first places that's happening, and it won't be the last."
Jeff Grimes, Head of Live Event Product at Perplexity, highlighted how OpticOdds supports the most advanced sportsbooks in pricing markets in real time, which is now the foundation for queries processed by Perplexity Computer. He emphasized that accuracy is at the core of Perplexity's functionality, enabling Pro and Max subscribers to ask about player props or track line shifts across various sportsbooks in a seamless conversation without needing a separate OpticOdds subscription.
When users pose sports betting questions to Perplexity Computer, the system interacts with the OpticOdds API to deliver answers sourced from its live data feed. This integration simplifies what once required numerous web pages, time-consuming comparisons, and specialized tools into a straightforward dialogue. For instance, users can inquire about the most fluctuating NBA player props in an hour, updates on NFL game spreads, or identify sportsbooks still offering a particular market’s over and receive immediate responses based on the same data relied upon by professional traders.
This partnership marks OpticOdds' inaugural venture into consumer-facing applications. In May 2026, OpticOdds was the first sports data firm to implement a Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration suited for AI agents, introducing native support for Anthropic’s Claude. However, the integration with Perplexity Computer adopts a distinctive approach by embedding OpticOdds directly into the service, allowing Pro and Max subscribers to access real-time sports data immediately without any additional configuration or costs.
Restivo concluded, "Having witnessed platform transitions among operators—whether mobile, direct-to-consumer, live-video streaming, or sports betting—the outcome is consistently clear: companies that own the data and infrastructure layer will outlast those trying to predict future trends. AI is the next platform, and we're at the forefront developing for it."
