Golfer Penge, aged 26, has been charged for breaching the DP World Tour's betting regulations, specifically Regulation 3(a)(i) of the Integrity Programme, by placing bets on various golf events, as determined by an Independent Disciplinary Panel. While Penge did not wager on his own performance or the outcomes of tournaments in which he participated, the panel deemed his actions a violation of Tour rules. Consequently, he has received a three-month suspension from competitive golf, with one month of that suspension being stayed for a year, contingent on any further breaches.

The suspension began on December 13, meaning Penge will be ineligible to compete until February 13, 2025. Additionally, he is required to pay a fine of £2,000 (€2,408/$2,499). The Tour noted that the panel considered Penge’s quick admission of his breach and his full cooperation during the investigation when deciding on the sanction.

Penge has been a professional golfer since 2017 and boasts three professional victories, including the 2023 Open de Portugal and Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final.

Interest in golf betting has surged in recent years, leading many operators to expand their offerings. DraftKings recently completed its acquisition of Dijon Systems, a subsidiary of Mustard Systems that specializes in golf pricing through Mustard Golf. This acquisition allows DraftKings to enhance its golf pricing capabilities and improve live golf content, leveraging Mustard Golf's expertise in creating advanced data models for live betting, enabling the introduction of new bet types and expanded markets.
