LaLiga announced that it has partnered with US Integrity, a sports betting monitor. The partnership is part of its efforts to “preserve integrity in sport”.

ProhiBet is the solution for prohibited betting launched by US Integrity and Odds On Compliance in February 2023. ProhiBet was created as a joint-venture between US Integrity, Odds On Compliance and Odds On Compliance.

US Integrity provides wagering monitoring to sports stakeholders. They analyze datasets in order to detect suspicious betting behavior. Odds On Compliance is an expert in compliance and technology for sports betting, gaming, and gambling.

LaLiga can benefit from the analytical insights to make sure that Spain’s two top football leagues play in an honest manner. Monitoring alerts will detect suspicious betting activities and “nefarious behaviour” that can be taken action on.

Javier Tebas said, “This partnership represents an important milestone in our efforts in safeguarding integrity and transparency within professional football.”

Matthew Holt, US Integrity’s chief executive officer and co-founder added: “We are incredibly excited about expanding our international efforts. We will be working with LaLiga in order to align our alerting process for future LaLiga matches globally.”

LaLiga is the latest sports body to use ProhiBet

LaLiga is joining a host of professional leagues around the world in improving its compliance to betting regulations with US Integrity’s ProhiBet.

ProhiBet will be used by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)’s Big 12 Conference in August 2023.

In the month following, The Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC), an organisation that specializes in mixed martial arts, partnered with ProhiBet. It is intended to prevent UFC athletes, coaches and other UFC employees from betting on events.

The Professional Fighters League (PFL), in February, teamed up with ProhiBet to enhance its regulatory betting measures.

Sportradar published its Integrity Report 2023 on Monday. It revealed that it detected 1,329 suspect matches in 2023.

Football had the highest number of detections with 880, which is 66.2% and 675 times more than the second-placed basketball.

Europe has seen the largest increase in football matches that are suspicious, with a 15% rise year-on-year. Europe topped the list of all sports for suspicious matches with 667. The detections are 32 higher than they were in 2022. This is the second largest increase in detections from one year to another, behind Asia.
