Caesars signs tribal agreement to launch sports betting online in North Carolina

Caesars Entertainment announced that it would launch mobile sports betting services in North Carolina following an expansion of its relationship with Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

On 11 March, North Carolina will launch its online sports betting markets. Caesars Sportsbook will begin accepting deposits and signups on 1 March, ahead of its launch.

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has approved a launch date for online sports betting. For those 21 years and older, the market will open in time for March Madness. Charlotte, North Carolina will host early round games of the March Madness tournament.

Caesars has already established two locations in the Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel, as well as Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort. Caesars now has exclusive rights for mobile sports betting at these two casinos as well as the Eastern Band of Cherokee tribe lands located in western North Carolina.

Eric Hession praised the long-standing relationship between Caesars Digital and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Hession expressed his delight at the benefits that both sides will receive from this expanded agreement.

Hession stated that “our relationship with Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians spans more than 20 years.”

The expansion of this partnership will allow us to continue to provide the best sports betting experience to North Carolinians aged 21 or older in the state.

Michell Hicks added that the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is excited about this new partnership with Caesars Entertainment, and all the benefits it brings to the tribal enterprise.

Caesars is the latest company to move into North Carolina

In less than two weeks, the launch of North Carolina’s online sports betting will be underway. Caesars is following BetMGM, DraftKings and others in securing an agreement that will allow them to launch.

Sports betting operators seeking to be approved must form a partnership with an official North Carolina sports team, sports league, or sports venue.

DraftKings has announced that it is the official daily fantasy partner of Nascar. BetMGM agreed to a deal in January for market access with Charlotte Motor Speedway. The complex is located in Concord and regularly hosts Nascar races.

Fanatics Betting and Gaming also announced an agreement with NHL Carolina Hurricanes. Meanwhile, fantasy sports app Underdog has partnered with McConnell golf to help support the application.

ESPN Bet has signed an agreement to become the official betting operator of Quail Hole Golf Club. ESPN Bet was appointed as the official betting agent for the Wells Fargo Championship, which took place in North Carolina.
