Angola Implements Transitional Licensing for Gaming Operators

Angola's Institute of Games Supervision (ISJ) has introduced a transitional licensing framework that grants eligible operators a 30-day period to obtain provisional licenses under the newly implemented Gaming Activity Act.

This regulatory shift took effect on July 1 and was outlined in a regulatory circular discussed during an industry meeting on June 29. The transitional framework is intended to allow operators to continue their activities while the final regulations and procedures for new licenses are being finalized.

It specifically applies to operators whose licenses expired following the enactment of the Gaming Activity Act, as well as to those who held licenses prior to the new law but have expressed a desire to continue operations to the ISJ.

Operators must submit their applications for provisional licensing within 30 working days via the SSJ platform. The ISJ aims for this temporary regime to provide clarity and stability within the market, creating a clear pathway for the implementation of the new licensing system established by the Gaming Activity Act.
