ICE 2027 Introduces Indie Game Zone for Emerging Studios

World Gaming (WG), the organization behind ICE Barcelona, has announced the introduction of an Indie Game Zone for the 2027 edition of the event. Located within the newly created Technology and Innovation Hall, this area aims to highlight independent game studios.

The Indie Game Zone is crafted to provide early-stage developers a distinctive opportunity to showcase their original casino and iGaming content directly to global operators and industry decision-makers.

This initiative targets studios that have been active for 10 years or less and have not yet reached the scale or visibility enjoyed by more established suppliers in the market. WG aims to give these smaller creators a chance to display new intellectual properties and innovative game concepts.

Interested studios can rent modular "pods" starting at €12,500 each. These pods will feature a branded cabinet, a TV display, logo placement, seating stools, a 500K electrical socket, and a listing with a profile on the ICE website. Additionally, exhibitors will gain from being included in guided stand tours and the marketing outreach of ICE. This includes a three-game feature within an Indie Games Showcase campaign and placement in the Slots News newsletter.

Alex Pratt, Group Managing Director at WG, emphasized that the Zone aims to elevate the visibility of emerging studios at ICE. He noted, "The Indie Game Zone is about giving genuinely exciting new studios a real platform at ICE, the kind of visibility that used to take years to earn. We built this because the industry’s next big thing is often coming from teams nobody’s heard of yet, and ICE should be the place where operators and decision makers find them first."

Eligibility for the Indie Game Zone is limited to studios that have been in business for a decade or less. These studios must not currently exhibit at ICE or iGB Live and cannot be subsidiaries of larger casino games providers. They must possess games or concepts ready for presentation.

The organizers assert that the Indie Game Zone will host the developers who will likely be discussed in the next five years. Visitors will find this new zone within Hall 7, which is dedicated to gaming technology innovation and fresh ideas. ICE has characterized Hall 7 as reflective of the industry's evolution, creating a stronger foundation for enterprise technology, AI, payment systems, infrastructure, fintech, and new iGaming innovations. The zone will serve as a venue for demonstrating prototypes and live game builds to operator delegates.

Applications for the Indie Game Zone at ICE 2027 are currently open.
