Spotlight Sports Group Forms Partnership with Engage Games for Gaming Expansion

Spotlight Sports Group has marked its debut in the games sector by partnering with Engage Games, a significant move that was unveiled on Thursday. This collaboration will enable Spotlight’s extensive network of global sportsbook operators to access a unique range of games developed in conjunction with Engage Games.

This venture signifies Spotlight’s initial foray into gaming, integrating the company’s global distribution and product expertise with Engage Games’ established platform, which specializes in both free-to-play and pay-to-play games.

The decision to enter this market aligns with a growing trend among operators who are increasingly adopting free-to-play games for purposes like engagement, retention, reactivation, and acquisition.

The forthcoming games will incorporate a variety of mechanics, such as fantasy, predictor, survivor, and bet builder formats. Notably, racing titles will utilize Spotlight’s Smart View Engine.

Rob Brown, Spotlight's B2B Growth Director, explained that this partnership will broaden the company's offerings by blending Engage Games’ robust game engine with Spotlight’s vast data, content, and distribution capabilities.

“This partnership marks a significant step for SSG as we extend our product capability into the games space,” said Brown. “In Engage Games, we have found a partner with a proven ability to deliver games that produce real commercial outcomes for partners.”

Ryan Lawrence, the founder of Engage Games, commented on the partnership, stating, “Partnering with SSG – one of the most trusted names in global racing and sports betting – reflects the reputation and results we’ve built. It’s the natural next step in our mission to provide better game experiences to as many players as possible.”

Lawrence added that through SSG’s network, they can offer proven, performance-driven capabilities to operators and rights holders around the globe.

In a broader context of growth, Spotlight, known for its media outlet Racing Post, appointed Adam Gill as its new Chief Technology Officer in June, as part of its strategic investment to enhance its product line.

Gill, who previously worked at the market research firm Savanta, is tasked with steering Spotlight’s technological and engineering advancements with an aim to attract new audiences.

“As Racing Post enters its 40th year, there is a real opportunity to use technology to engage new audiences, deepen the value we deliver to operators, and make AI a practical capability across the business,” Gill stated.

Earlier this year, Spotlight laid out its 2026 Racing Innovation strategy, which includes two upcoming product releases. These include the Smart View Tipping Feed and Racing Bet Builder, both designed to provide cutting-edge, algorithm-driven tools aimed at enhancing customer engagement while simplifying the betting process.
