Wildz has made history by becoming the first online gambling operator to secure a license from Finland’s newly regulated market. CEO Sam Brown expressed his excitement, stating, "Receiving the amazing news of being the first operator to receive a licence in Finland is a welcome reward for all the efforts of the team in the application process."
The Wildz Group has been granted authorization for a five-year period starting from July 1, 2027, by Finland’s National Police Board (NPB). This step indicates that Finland is progressing towards launching its regulated market.
Brown emphasized the significance of this achievement, adding, "We’re excited about this milestone and what it represents for the future of Wildz Group. We believe that our brands will offer players in Finland a safe and engaging entertainment product for many years to come. We’re looking forward to July 2027."
Recent reports highlighted that Finland has approved nearly 75 licenses, an increase from 50 in June. Prominent international operators vying for a foothold include Betsson, MGM Resorts-controlled LeoVegas, and the Swedish-Finnish trotting association joint venture, Hippos ATG Oy.
The Finnish regulator has consistently worked to curb the activities of companies illegally advertising within the market. Notably, it recently imposed a fine of $1.2 million on MagicPoro for violations, which the company has contested. Additionally, the regulator plans to ban autoplay features in the market and implement 15-minute reminders aimed at promoting responsible gaming. There will also be a restriction on player investments, limiting slot bets to €20 and reducing it to €10 for individuals under 25 years old.
