BC.GAME Launches Sports Betting and Casino in Ghana

BC.GAME has officially launched its sports betting and online casino services in Ghana, having received the necessary regulatory approval. This announcement came on Wednesday, marking Ghana as the latest addition to BC.GAME's portfolio of regulated markets, which also includes Mexico and Nigeria, the latter being added earlier this year.

The online platform is now accessible at bcgame.com.gh following the licensing granted by the Gaming Commission of Ghana, the nation's gambling oversight body. Adrian Chen, BC.GAME’s senior legal counsel, emphasized that this launch signifies a key development in the company's strategy for regulated growth.

"Ghana has a well-established regulatory framework, and entering the market in compliance with local licensing requirements is a significant advancement for BC.GAME," Chen noted. He added that the firm is committed to operating with transparency, providing clear information to users in Ghana, and ensuring that its offerings align with the country’s regulatory standards. BC.GAME aims to establish a sustainable and long-term presence in this burgeoning market.

In its announcement, BC.GAME highlighted that Ghana offers a sound regulatory environment for gaming. The company is attracted by the nation’s connected population and its vibrant culture surrounding football and digital entertainment. To cater to local preferences, BC.GAME has customized its platform to be more accessible for Ghanaian users.

According to data from H2 Gambling Capital, Ghana's online gross win is projected to reach $903.5 million by 2025, reflecting a 24% increase compared to $729.8 million the previous year. While South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya are often regarded as the leading markets in African gambling, Ghana is quickly establishing itself as a prominent player. Peter Kesitilwe, CEO of the African iGaming Alliance, has remarked on Ghana’s burgeoning reputation for stability and commercial attractiveness in West Africa.

"Ghana is improving its regulatory maturity and political stability, which are appealing for investors. Many operators now view Ghana as a key growth market in the region," Kesitilwe explained.

BC.GAME’s debut in the regulated Ghana market follows the earlier introduction of Kaizen Gaming’s Betano brand in February.

However, BC.GAME's history has not been without controversy. The operator withdrew its license in Curaçao last December, citing a hostile operating environment, following a court ruling that declared the company bankrupt due to unpaid player funds. Additionally, BC.GAME lost its white label license in the UK, raising alarms about its sponsorship of the English football club Leicester City.

In response to the bankruptcy allegations, BC.GAME stated, "We have no liquidity or financial stability issues and continue to expand our operations globally into new regulated markets."
