BC.GAME Launches Sports Betting in Ghana

BC.GAME has officially launched its sports betting and online casino services in Ghana after obtaining regulatory approval from the Gaming Commission of Ghana. This expansion, announced on Wednesday, represents BC.GAME's third regulated market, following entries in Mexico and Nigeria earlier this year.

The platform is now operational at bcgame.com.gh. Adrian Chen, BC.GAME’s senior legal counsel, commented on the launch as a significant step in the company's strategy to grow within regulated markets. "Ghana has a well-established regulatory framework, and entering the market in accordance with local licensing requirements represents an important step in BC.GAME’s regulated growth strategy," Chen stated.

He emphasized the company’s commitment to transparency and responsibility, aiming to provide local users with clear information while ensuring that its products and operational processes comply with Ghanaian regulations. Chen expressed optimism about building a sustainable presence in the country.

In the company's announcement, BC.GAME highlighted Ghana’s well-structured regulatory environment, a connected population, and a vibrant football and digital entertainment culture as key factors in their decision to expand there. They have tailored their platform to better serve the Ghanaian market.

According to H2 Gambling Capital data, Ghana's online gross win is forecasted to reach $903.5 million in 2025, reflecting a 24% increase from the previous year’s total of $729.8 million. While South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya dominate the African gambling landscape, Ghana is quickly establishing itself as a formidable player. Peter Kesitilwe, CEO of the African iGaming Alliance, pointed out Ghana's reputation as one of West Africa’s most stable and commercially attractive markets. He stated, "Ghana has developed a reputation as one of West Africa’s most stable and maybe commercially attractive markets. It is trying to improve its regulatory maturity. The other key thing is political stability because policymakers are the ones attracting investors. So many operators now see Ghana as an important strategic growth market within the region."

BC.GAME’s move into the regulated Ghana market follows the launch of Kaizen Gaming’s Betano brand earlier this year in February.

Despite its expansion, BC.GAME has faced controversies, including the withdrawal of its licence in Curaçao in December 2022, citing an "increasingly hostile" environment. This followed a court ruling in November that declared it bankrupt for failing to pay owed funds to players. Additionally, the company lost its white label licence in the UK, raising concerns regarding its sponsorship deal with Leicester City.

In response to the bankruptcy claims, BC.GAME asserted that it had no liquidity or financial stability issues, emphasizing its ongoing global growth and entry into new regulated markets.
