During the first eight days of August 2026, Macau's gaming tax revenue increased by 6.9% year-on-year, reaching MOP66.17 billion ($8.24 billion), according to the latest financial data released by the Financial Services Bureau (DSF). This growth contrasts with MOP61.88 billion ($7.71 billion) reported in the same timeframe in 2025 and constitutes approximately 71.5% of the government’s total budget of MOP92.53 billion ($11.52 billion) earmarked for gaming tax.
However, despite this annual growth, gaming tax revenue in August saw a decline of 8%, totaling MOP7.83 billion ($975 million), compared to MOP8.51 billion ($1.06 billion) collected in August 2025.
Gaming activities generated nearly all of Macau’s concession revenue of MOP66.32 billion ($8.26 billion) through the first eight months, while the remaining MOP146.56 million ($18.3 million) came from other public utility service concessions. Overall, the government collected MOP77.77 billion ($9.68 billion) during this period, marking an increase of 7.2% from 2025, with gaming representing roughly 85.1% of this total revenue.
Additionally, Macau's government expenditures reached MOP58.81 billion ($7.32 billion) for the initial eight months of the year, resulting in a balance of MOP18.95 billion ($2.36 billion) in the central account. This figure is a rise from the MOP15.01 billion ($1.87 billion) balance recorded in the same portion of 2025, indicating stronger overall government revenue even with the observed decline in gaming tax receipts in August.
