CasinoBeats has detailed recent key statistics from the gaming industry, focusing on Safer Gambling Week, fiscal projections for Macau, and the launch of an innovative multiplayer slot game. The Betting & Gaming Council (BGC) announced that Safer Gambling Week 2024 garnered over 60 million impressions across social media from November 18 to 24, marking a 21% increase from the previous year. This campaign aimed to elevate awareness regarding safer gambling through platforms like X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. A range of UK MPs and peers, including Gambling Minister Baroness Fiona Twycross and Shadow DCMS Secretary Stuart Andrew MP, expressed their support for the initiative. The UK Gambling Commission, led by CEO Andrew Rhodes, also backed the campaign, alongside various football clubs such as Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and Southampton. The BGC noted that the Safer Gambling Week website attracted over half a million visits, providing resources and advice on tools like deposit limits and time-outs. "These outstanding and record-breaking results prove once more that our industry is serious about promoting the safer gambling tools available to customers and signposting the help and support available to those who need it," stated Grainne Hurst, CEO of the BGC. In Italy, the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) reported a decrease in tax revenues from gambling operations, totaling €8.05 billion as of September 30, 2024, down 6% from €8.2 billion during the same period in 2023. If this trend continues, 2024 may mark the first decline in revenues, excluding the pandemic-affected year of 2020. The bulletin highlighted a significant drop in the third quarter of 2024, where gambling tax revenues fell 16% to €2.22 billion, compared to €3.3 billion in Q3 2023. This decline was attributed to a 26% year-on-year decrease in net gambling expenditure, which fell from €5.9 billion in Q3 2023 to €4.35 billion in Q3 2024. Conversely, the tobacco sector saw growth, generating €4.18 billion in Q3 2024, a 5.77% increase from the previous year. Within the gambling sector, gaming machines were the largest revenue source, bringing in €910 million (41%) from net expenditure of €1.26 billion, followed by lotteries at €870 million (39.08%), betting at €180 million (8.17%), and other games contributing €260 million (11.64%). In Macau, analysts project a stronger December following last month's gross gaming revenue (GGR) of MOP$18.4 billion ($2.30 billion). Despite a relatively strong finish for November, Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau reported a daily GGR of MOP$615 million (US$77 million), one of the lower results in 2024. Senior Analyst Vitaly Umansky from Seaport Research Partners predicts a year-on-year increase of 5.2% and a month-on-month rise of 5.9%, estimating GGR for December at around MOP$19.5 billion (US$2.43 billion). Conversely, Stock Analyst Carlo Santarelli from Deutsche Bank anticipates a modest 3% increase in GGR to approximately MOP$19.1 billion (US$2.39 billion), noting a daily improvement of 0.4%, which is lower than the 0.7% average from 2013 to 2019. However, a visit from Chinese President Xi Jinping for the inauguration of Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai on December 20 could impact visitor numbers from mainland China. Meanwhile, HungryBear Gaming has reached a significant milestone by announcing that SlotMasters is the first multiplayer slot officially certified for real money gaming. Initially launched in 2020 as a free-to-play product, it will soon be available for real money through Yggdrasil Gaming.
