The Massachusetts State Lottery achieved a new milestone in fiscal year 2021, surpassing its previous record of $1.104 billion from 2019. Revenue for the year reached a historic high of $5.83 billion, eclipsing the previous record of $5.51 billion set in 2019. This year also marks the seventh straight year that revenues have exceeded the five billion dollar benchmark. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic led to a decline in both revenue and profit in fiscal year 2020, which totaled $5.26 billion and $986.9 million, respectively. Although the figures for 2021 are still subject to formal audit, the Lottery anticipates that the numbers will not change significantly post-review.
