Kaizen Gaming has acquired GameplAI, a provider of AI-driven sports trading and analytics services, with the goal of enhancing its Betano brand. The announcement, made on Wednesday, highlights the acquisition's purpose: to improve proprietary capabilities in sports trading, player markets, and performance analytics for Betano by utilizing AI technology.
The owner of Betano stated that integrating GameplAI’s technology and expertise would enhance the tier-one sportsbook experience in its global markets while also boosting automation and refining risk management tools.
GameplAI focuses on sportsbook solutions, including micromarkets, player props, and in-game parlays, and has partnered with companies like Betsson and Superbet in the past.
The company will retain control over its B2B operations, and its original team will remain active in development to ensure continuity as it transitions under Kaizen’s ownership.
Christos Tzalavras, Kaizen’s Chief Product Officer, emphasized that this acquisition underscores the company’s long-term strategy to enhance its sportsbook capabilities through technological investment. "What stood out to us throughout this process was the strong cultural alignment between our teams, a shared focus on innovation, execution, and performance," Tzalavras remarked. He expressed confidence that this partnership will significantly boost the world-class sportsbook experience offered to customers worldwide, stating, "An obsession for top-tier customer experiences unites GameplAI and Kaizen Gaming, and I could not be more excited about what is ahead of us."
Nikos Volakis, co-founder of GameplAI, described the acquisition as an "exciting new chapter" for the firm, providing the necessary backing for future growth. He added, "With Kaizen Gaming’s scale and strategic vision, we are confident that our combined capabilities will unlock new levels of automation, accuracy, and performance."
This acquisition comes on the heels of Betano's entry into the Ghanaian market earlier this year, marking its second presence in Africa after Nigeria. Betano is now operational in 20 regulated markets worldwide, having entered the UK, Colombia, and Brazil since the start of 2024. In Brazil, Betano has emerged as the market leader, bolstered by significant sponsorship initiatives that raised brand awareness ahead of and following regulation. These efforts included sponsoring the Copa América football tournament in 2024 and securing a master sponsorship deal with Flamengo, regarded as Brazil’s foremost football club.
George Skarlatos, Kaizen Gaming’s Director of Business Development, noted that Ghana met all entry criteria due to its high digital adoption and robust regulatory framework. "Taken together, these areas make Ghana an attractive region for Kaizen to enter, as they have fostered a long-term, sustainable environment for us to operate in," Skarlatos explained.
