DraftKings will take over as the sportsbook brand for the Oregon Lottery, shifting from the current Scoreboard brand. The exact timeline for this transition has yet to be revealed.
During a meeting on August 26, Oregon Lottery Executive Director Barry Pack outlined discussions about moving away from the SBTech platform that has supported Scoreboard since 2019. Pack noted that the switch to DraftKings would streamline operations and enhance player experience. "There are a number of business benefits in terms of simplifying some of the structure and there are player benefits as the experience will be improved on the new platform," he said.
DraftKings is currently transitioning from its previous sportsbook provider, Kambi, to an upgraded SBTech platform, a move initiated after acquiring the supplier in December 2019. This migration is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2021.
When asked by Commissioner Julie Wilcox about potential disruptions and revenue loss during the switch, Pack assured that the lottery aims to make the process as seamless as possible. However, he cautioned that customers will need to re-register for a DraftKings account after the change. While some players may choose not to migrate, Pack believes the improvement in customer experience and expanded wagering options will more than compensate for any lost spending.
