Stats Perform, a sports data and analytics firm, has released its live Opta Vision feeds that will provide a series of new football metrics for the season 2022-2023.
Opta Vision, which combines Opta data on events with tracking data from new sources, will give professional teams insights.
The Stats Perform also provides new storytelling opportunities to broadcasters and publishing houses.
Stats Perform’s chief product officer, Nancy Hensley said: “We are excited about introducing our customers to the new generation of Opta Data.”
By synchronising tracking and event data, and using our AI capabilities, we empower performance analysis departments within teams as well as the production team of a broadcaster to uncover new trends in performance and to tell stories about great games.
Stat Perform’s Qwinn AI is also used to combine the data and provide a more personalized experience for users.
New predictive metrics from the company include outputs for pass predictions, which have been trained using millions of datapoints. They also provide new information on dynamic changes to a team’s shape in a match.
Opta Vision’s tracking data uses Stats Perform’s computer vision to collect data from remote video sources, adding it to the stadium feeds at match venues.
Opta Vision’s initial feed will include other data, such as a new qualifier for passes that indicates when a teammate completes a pass to break a line.
Stats Perform’s senior project manager Jens Melvang said that tracking data is increasingly used, yet the results are limited to basic metrics like distance traveled.
By combining our tracking data and the best football event data, we are able to provide accurate and insightful metrics that give a complete picture of what is happening on the field.
