Genius Sports and The Sports Network, a Canadian Sports Channel (TSN), have entered into an agreement whereby Genius Sports will provide TSN+’s streaming platform with proprietary NFL data.
Genius’ real-time overlays will be delivered to TSN+, including graphics, visualizations, and Next Gen Stats data.
The sports data company has been an official partner with the NFL since April 2021. In November 2022, this agreement was extended to include streaming for US operators.
Feeds that are enhanced
TSN+ will augment the NFL NGS data with statistics, such as yards rushing, receiving, and passing.
TSN, owned by the telecommunications conglomerate BCE Inc. through Bell Media.
Shawn Redmond, Bell Media Sports Vice President, said that TSN+ will allow fans to dive deeper into TSN’s live sports portfolio, which includes the NFL, with enhanced feeds, multiple-casts and featured content. We’re excited to be partnering with Genius Sports in order to bring these data-enhanced, world-exclusive augmented broadcasts of the NFL Playoffs & Super Bowl LVII for TSN+ subscribers.
Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports, said that the company was “thrilled to power” the streaming service.
The NFL Playoffs are well-known and TSN is proud to provide our suite of broadcast enhancement tools that will bring the fans even closer to the action and transform the experience for every game on TSN+.
Streaming deals
Genius isn’t the first company to offer Canadian NFL streaming.
Genius Watch & Bet, together with NFL and Bet365, Bet99, Rivalry, the esports-oriented sportsbook, will provide video streaming services to three Canadian-facing sportsbooks in November.
Locke stated that he was “delighted” with the NFL’s decision to expand its partnership Genius Sports, becoming the exclusive provider for official data and streaming content in sportsbooks throughout Canada.
