The Brazilian Senator Jorge Kajuru was appointed as president of the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission on Sports Betting (CPI), which will investigate allegations that match fixing is taking place in Brazil’s sport.

Kajuru will have Senator Eduardo Girao as his vice president. Kajuru is a senator from the Brazilian state Goias. Romario will report to the CPI. He is a former Brazilian footballer, who played for Brazil at the 1994 World Cup before becoming a Senator.

CPI members will be meeting weekly to investigate the complaints of players, managers, and betting firms. The CPI, if it determines that games were manipulated by someone else, will ask the courts to bar the culprit from playing football.

CPI has been introduced for the first time in December. The CPI will be composed of eleven senators who are currently in office, and seven replacements.

Romario stated, “I am sure this CPI will have some goals and that we’ll achieve them.” We know what problems our football faces.

Here are some people who want to clear the air. The people want to get into the betting shops in our country and open their black boxes. “They can better understand and know what kind of manipulation is taking place and who the perpetrators are.”

Created CPI amid storm of match-fixing

CPI was established after Kajuru requested that the Brazilian federal police investigate John Textor. Textor owns the football club Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas. Textor had made allegations of match fixing against Sao Paulo’s and Palmeiras’ football teams.

Textor claimed that Palmeiras had bribed five Sao Paulo football players before a Brazilian Championship Series A match against Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo lost 5-0 to Palmeiras. He claimed that he had evidence for this.

Kajuru said that Textor had claimed a month earlier to have a recording showing a Brazil referee accepting bribes.

Kajuru claimed that he sent claims to Andrei Rodrigues. The director of federal police. The senator had requested that the federal police summon Textor in 24 hours. Textor was also asked to bring any and all evidence or recordings that could support Textor’s claims.

Kajuru said during the meeting that if the player didn’t provide the recording and evidence, then he should be arrested tomorrow in a cell with handcuffs. Kajuru said: “This is a hugely irresponsible act, as it’s Brazilian Football, this country’s biggest passion.”

CPI will investigate complaints of sports manipulation in order to “clear everything up”. The CPI will start its work in the next few days, and Textor is expected to be called as the first person who testifies.

Brazil to Legalise Gambling in 2024

Brazil’s efforts to legalize gambling by 2024 have led to concerns about the integrity of the sports betting industry.

Bill 3626, signed by President Luiz inacio Lula Da Silva in December, legalized sports betting and online gaming in the country.

The Brazilian Ministry of Finance has published an order outlining plans to introduce fixed-odds gambling. The four-stage process will be completed by the end of July.

The first stage will be devoted to the requirements of operators in terms of technical, security, and payment, along with rules governing how they can obtain a licence. In the second phase, anti-money-laundering and anti-terror financing policies will be published.

The third stage involves the disclosure of technical and security standards for online gaming. While the last phase will detail the procedures to allocate industry contributions for socially responsible causes.
