Our report marks the culmination of a lengthy and sometimes fraught process for regulating sports betting in Brazil. The final phase of the regulation process will be completed in December 2023, when Bill 3,626/2023 is signed into law. This includes igaming as well as wagering.
It is expected to be completed by the end of July. The process began seriously in December 2018. In December 2018, the outgoing President Michel Temer had signed a law paving the road for Congress to create and implement sports betting laws. The market will finally open after two presidents.
