A leading sportsbook launches a full-product offer across key markets

Altenar is a sportsbook software and iGaming provider that has acquired a B2B license in Greece. This allows it to expand its reach into another well-established European country.

Altenar, who already have an Athens office, now has a Greek license from the Hellenic Gaming Commission. This will increase Altenar’s visibility in Greece and add a new licence to their already extensive portfolio.

Altenar has expertise in more than fifty countries that have legalised gambling. The Greek license, valid for seven-years, allows the company to expand its service offerings.

Online betting has been a huge success in Greece since the implementation of a new regulatory framework. Market data indicates that tax revenue is expected to be EUR540,000,000 and create numerous jobs this year.

Marina Zacharopoulou is Compliance Manager for Altenar. She said, “The licensing process was rigorous but familiar because we have experience in similar processes elsewhere.” We encountered the typical obstacles along the way but we managed to overcome them.

The Greek license is a special achievement for Altenar. A large part of our staff are Greeks, so it feels like homecoming. Personal, I think that Greece’s history of games of luck, as evidenced by the prevalence of gambling during ancient times, and deities such as Tyche, gives our license a cultural resonance.
