This new feature aims to enhance transparency by linking each factual statement directly to its originating documents hosted on the source’s domain.
The Verified Sources panel meticulously lists the specific references used, notes the issuing authority, and provides editorial insights regarding what has been verified along with the limitations of the available evidence. Each source is displayed in the order it was consulted, along with information about the responsible individual or office when applicable.
Additionally, the panel includes relevant disclosure tags based on the newsroom’s editorial criteria, along with hyperlinks that direct readers to the original documents. This allows users to verify claims with just one click. This initiative addresses common issues in online publishing where sources are often concealed, paraphrased, or omitted, compelling readers to trust reports without access to independently verifiable evidence.
