Spotlight Sports Group Teams Up with Engage Games for Gaming Expansion

Spotlight Sports Group has made its debut in the gaming sector through a new partnership with Engage Games. This collaboration, unveiled on Thursday, will provide Spotlight's global network of sportsbook operators with access to Engage Games' custom-designed gaming offerings, developed in tandem with Spotlight's partners.

This marks a significant milestone for Spotlight as it ventures into gaming, pairing the company's extensive product and content distribution capabilities with Engage Games' established platform, known for its free-to-play and pay-to-play game solutions.

The move into the gaming realm aligns with a growing trend among operators who are increasingly adopting free-to-play games to enhance "engagement, retention, reactivation, and acquisition." The offerings will encompass various gaming styles, including fantasy, predictor, survivor, and bet builder mechanics, with racing games to be powered by Spotlight’s Smart View Engine.

Rob Brown, Spotlight's B2B Growth Director, emphasized that this partnership expands their product portfolio by integrating Engage Games' gaming engine with Spotlight’s comprehensive data and distribution network. "This partnership marks a significant step for SSG as we extend our product capability into the games space," Brown remarked. "In Engage Games, we have found a partner with a proven ability to deliver games that produce real commercial outcomes for partners."

Ryan Lawrence, founder of Engage Games, also highlighted the importance of this collaboration, noting, "Partnering with SSG – one of the most trusted names in global racing and sports betting – reflects the reputation and results we’ve built. It’s the natural next step in our mission to get better game experiences into the hands of as many players as possible."

Lawrence added that through Spotlight's network, Engage Games now has the opportunity to showcase its proven, performance-driven capabilities to operators and rights holders on a global scale.

In light of this new direction, Spotlight recently appointed Adam Gill as its chief technology officer in June, further reflecting its commitment to expanding its product offerings. Gill, who transitioned from the market research firm Savanta, is now overseeing the technology and engineering strategies for the group, aiming to engage new audiences.

As Spotlight prepares to mark the 40th anniversary of its Racing Post media outlet, there is a significant opportunity to leverage technology for audience engagement, enrich the value offered to operators, and integrate AI into the business strategies. Earlier this year, Spotlight unveiled its 2026 Racing Innovation strategy, which includes the launch of two new products: the Smart View Tipping Feed and Racing Bet Builder, designed to optimize customer engagement and streamline the betting experience.
