Spotlight Sports Group Partners with Engage Games to Enter Gaming Sector

Spotlight Sports Group has made its foray into the gaming sector by forming a partnership with Engage Games.

This collaboration, announced on Thursday, enables Spotlight’s extensive network of global sportsbook operators to utilize Engage Games’ custom-developed games, crafted in partnership with Spotlight’s affiliates.

This marks Spotlight's inaugural entry into the gaming realm, melding its global product distribution with Engage Games' expertise in both free-to-play and pay-to-play gaming formats. The company stated that their move into gaming is in response to a growing trend among operators who are increasingly adopting free-to-play models for “engagement, retention, reactivation and acquisition.”

The new gaming offerings will encompass various mechanics, including fantasy, predictor, survivor, and bet builder formats. Additionally, racing games will leverage Spotlight’s Smart View Engine.

Rob Brown, Spotlight’s B2B Growth Director, noted that the collaboration enhances their product offerings by integrating Engage Games' gaming engine with Spotlight's data, content, and extensive global distribution. "This partnership marks a significant step for SSG as we extend our product capability into the games space,” Brown stated. “In Engage Games, we have found a partner with a proven ability to deliver games that produce real commercial outcomes for partners.”

Ryan Lawrence, the founder of Engage Games, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Partnering with SSG – one of the most trusted names in global racing and sports betting – reflects the reputation and results we’ve built. It’s the natural next step in our mission to get better game experiences into the hands of as many players as possible. Through SSG’s network, we can now put proven, performance-driven capabilities in front of operators and rights holders worldwide."

In a broader view of its growth, Spotlight, the company behind the Racing Post, bolstered its team by appointing Adam Gill as its new Chief Technology Officer in June, continuing its investment in expanding its product offerings. Gill, who formerly worked at market research firm Savanta, is expected to lead technology and engineering initiatives within the group, aiming to attract new audiences. "As Racing Post enters its 40th year, there is a real opportunity to use technology to engage new audiences and deepen the value we deliver to operators while making AI a practical capability across the business," he remarked.

Earlier this year, Spotlight laid out its 2026 Racing Innovation strategy, which includes two significant product launches: the Smart View Tipping Feed and Racing Bet Builder, both aimed at enhancing customer engagement and simplifying the betting experience with modern, algorithm-driven tools.
