Genius Sports Collaborates with Polymarket and Kalshi in Prediction Market Expansion

This week, Genius Sports announced partnerships with two US-regulated prediction market platforms, Polymarket and Kalshi, aimed at enhancing the provision of official sports data. These partnerships signify Genius Sports' entry into the prediction market sector.

On Tuesday, Genius Sports revealed its collaboration with Polymarket, which operates under the oversight of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Under this agreement, Genius will supply Polymarket with official, real-time event data, along with league integrity services. The deal will also grant Polymarket exclusive live streaming rights for selected events, particularly focusing on Italy’s Serie A for American audiences, while supporting digital marketing initiatives through Genius Sports’ media assets owned by Legend.

The partnership aims to integrate live streaming of Serie A matches with relevant real-time event contracts, enhancing fan engagement with prediction market offerings. Polymarket emphasized that this collaboration will allow sports leagues to monitor prediction market activities in real time and detect any irregular trading patterns.

Ari Borod, Polymarket’s president of sports business development, noted that combining live streaming, official data, and integrity infrastructure is vital for creating a reliable product for customers. Sean Conroy, Genius Sports’ EVP of rights and partnerships, added, "As the category continues to grow, robust integrity safeguards are not simply optional; they are foundational. By integrating official data, live streaming, league IP, integrity services, and our Legend media network's reach, we are enabling Polymarket to provide a unique and trustworthy experience for sports fans in the US."

The following day, Genius Sports entered a partnership with Kalshi, allowing the provision of real-time data encompassing a wide range of soccer leagues, including the English Premier League, Serie A, Liga MX, the Argentine Primera División, and France’s Ligue 1. In addition to data, this partnership will include marketing, media outreach, and integrity service support, as well as participation in Genius Sports’ information-sharing frameworks.

Adam Barrick, Kalshi’s head of sports partnerships, expressed pride in teaming up with Genius Sports due to their established reputation for delivering top-quality sports data and their commitment to maintaining the integrity of sporting competitions.

Both partnerships are effective immediately for eligible users in the United States, representing significant advancements in the development of sports prediction markets underpinned by reliable data and integrity protocols.

In related news, Sportradar announced its own multi-year agreements with both Kalshi and Polymarket back in June. During the recent Q2 earnings call, CEO Carsten Koerl expressed strong optimism regarding the potential of prediction market contracts to enhance revenue for the data supplier. He explained, “With our premium content, global scale and unmatched product portfolio and capabilities, predictions market is a natural adjacency. It expands the US TAM by opening up new states, attracting new players, and increasing engagement with sports.”

This partnership follows Genius Sports’ recent acquisition of the gaming media technology platform Legend, valued at $1.2 billion, which includes $900 million at the deal's closure, plus an earn-out potential of $300 million.
