Swedish Regulator Suspends Charm Entertainment’s Licence Amid Financial Investigation

The Swedish Gambling Authority, known as Spelinspektionen, has temporarily suspended the licence of Charm Entertainment AB following an investigation that revealed concerns about the company's financial reporting. The inquiry pointed out discrepancies in Charm's financial statements and raised suspicions about personnel allegedly involved in accounting violations. As a result, all operations of the company have been halted.

This suspension takes effect from October 1, 2026, and will be in place until the conclusion of ongoing court proceedings, which are expected to last no longer than April 1, 2027. The regulator's decision hinged on information from Charm’s annual reports for 2023 to 2025 and materials linked to an active criminal investigation at the Södertälje District Court.

Spelinspektionen has provided several reasons for this action, asserting it has "sufficient reasons" to believe that Charm does not meet the regulatory requirements for obtaining and retaining a gambling licence. The current and former leadership at Charm faces serious accusations related to aggravated accounting crimes, which have connections to individuals tied to Lucky 21 Casino AB, a prior legal gambling operator.

The authority emphasized the gravity of the alleged crimes and noted the links between the individuals associated with Lucky 21 Casino AB and the operations of Charm. Although this suspension can be reviewed, the initial duration may extend up to six months, with the option for an additional six months if deemed necessary.
