Tyson Fury, the heavyweight boxing champion, has firmly denied any association with gambling amid reports that several online casino sites are falsely claiming his endorsement. In a recent Instagram statement, Fury declared, "I have nothing to do with any gambling apps, nothing to do with any online casinos," emphasizing that he is not connected to any gambling activities.
Fury has taken steps to address the misuse of his name and image by these gambling platforms. He highlighted a specific site, Tyson Fury Casino, which alleges that he endorses their services and encourages users to sign up for promotional bonuses. In his warning, Fury stressed that these sites are fraudulent, stating, "They will scam you and hack your phone, your bank, and your personal data."
To combat this issue, Fury announced that his legal team, in collaboration with cybersecurity experts, is actively pursuing these fraudulent entities. "My legal team is already taking stringent, aggressive action alongside cyber-security experts to hunt these fraudsters down and dismantle their tracking networks," he affirmed.
Historically, the boxer has distanced himself from the gambling industry, rejecting numerous lucrative offers. He stated, "I have explicitly stated for years that I will never advertise gambling," highlighting that he has turned down "millions of dollars to do gambling stuff."
Fury’s personal struggles with addiction influence his stance on gambling. He has expressed that promoting gambling contradicts his commitment to clean living. He remarked, "Alcohol, drugs and gambling is a no-no for me because I have come from those dark places and I don’t want to return. I wouldn’t want anyone else to return there so I could benefit from a few extra dollars in my account."
His candidness about past gambling habits also surfaced in discussions about his life after fights. After a 2019 match against Otto Wallin, Fury recounted, "I went to the hospital, had a few stitches, went home and had an early night. Then I’ve got up, gone to the casino, won five grand, had a few beers and now I’m going to have a few more beers."
Fury has openly battled mental health issues throughout his career, even stepping back from boxing to focus on his well-being. He credits his recovery to a commitment to clean living and faith in God.
The use of celebrity names to lure users to fake gambling sites is an established scam tactic. Instances of sites misusing the images of various celebrities to market themselves have been noted, including aggressive claims involving well-known figures like Jeff Bezos and Drake. A quick search reveals a proliferation of similarly false sites linking various celebrities to unofficial casinos, including names like Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Conor McGregor, Donald Trump, and Elon Musk.
Fury’s message serves as a reminder to users to stay vigilant against potential scams, urging them to protect their financial information: "Keep your guard up, look after your money, and stay safe."
