Matchbook has successfully acquired Betdaq, a veteran in the betting exchange industry. Founded in 2000 by Dermot Desmond, Betdaq stands out as one of the oldest betting exchanges, providing services to exchange bettors for over twenty-five years.
The transition will allow the Betdaq platform, managed by EPS Ltd, to continue operations until 21st October 2026, ensuring an orderly phase-out. Customers can access their accounts for withdrawals until 4th November 2026. Throughout this change, customer funds remain secure in line with the regulatory responsibilities of both entities. Betdaq customers can review crucial dates and FAQs by visiting betdaq.com.
This merger leverages Betdaq’s longstanding legacy along with Matchbook’s expertise in pricing, liquidity, and technology. As a result, customers from both markets can expect tighter spreads, larger fills, and improved prices.
The acquisition comes at a time when the peer-to-peer betting model is regaining traction globally, particularly in the United States; exchange betting and prediction markets are introducing market-driven pricing to diverse audiences.
Matchbook has been operating exchange markets for over twenty years, with its recent growth attributed to partnerships such as easyBet with easyGroup and the launch of ADI PredictStreet in the prediction market space surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ronan McDonagh, CEO of Matchbook, stated, "Betdaq and Matchbook grew up proving the same idea — that bettors get a better deal when prices are made by a market rather than a margin. A quarter of a century on, that idea is winning: exchanges and prediction markets are bringing peer-to-peer pricing to new audiences around the world, and this acquisition deepens the pool at the heart of everything we build. Our first priority through this transition is Betdaq’s customers: their funds are safe, their options are clear, and in one combined pool they should find better prices and deeper liquidity than either exchange could offer alone. Everything we are doing — this deal included — is about making the exchange first choice."
