SBC Americas offers a weekly roundup of notable leadership changes within the U.S. land-based gaming, online gambling, and prediction markets sectors. Recently, key appointments were made at Flutter, Allwyn, White Hat Gaming, Aristocrat, and Yggdrasil.
Dan Taylor officially stepped into the role of Group CEO at Flutter Entertainment on October 1, succeeding Peter Jackson, who had led the company for nearly nine years and exited on September 30. Jackson will continue to serve as an advisor until the end of 2026. This leadership transition was first announced on August 5, in conjunction with Flutter's second-quarter results, when the company's shares closed at $92.91, down from $104.96. By Jackson's last day, shares had fallen further to $74.54, ending at $75.85 on October 7, nearly 28% lower than prior to the announcement.
Taylor brings over a decade of experience from various senior roles at Flutter, including a tenure as CEO of Paddy Power Betfair from 2018 to 2020 and leading Flutter International, which generated more than $9 billion in revenue in 2025. Following a recent reshuffle, Amy Howe stepped down as CEO of FanDuel, with Christian Genetski taking over. Taylor stated, “Our priority will be to keep delivering for our colleagues, customers and shareholders, while building on the momentum we’ve created across the business.” In tandem with this change, Edward Traynor appointed interim Group Chief Legal Officer on October 1, replacing Don Liu, who resigned effective September 30.
Allwyn named Fredrik Ögren as its Group Chief Technology Officer, following his previous role as CTO at Betsson Group for five years, where he spearheaded technology strategy across multiple regulated markets. Ögren will report to Kresimir Spajic, CEO of Allwyn Digital. Brett Cross, who served as interim Group CTO, will transition into a new position as CTO of Global Lottery and Deputy Group CTO under Ögren's leadership. Ögren emphasized the importance of technology in enhancing player experiences and supporting sustainable business success. This appointment is part of Allwyn’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in digital products and the North American market, following its establishment of Allwyn Digital in September 2025 and a significant acquisition of a 62.3% stake in PrizePicks.
In addition to Ögren's appointment, Allwyn has seen other recent leadership changes, including Khalid Reede Jones as CEO of Allwyn North America, Phil Walker as interim CEO of Allwyn UK, and Francesco Rodano as the Group Head of Responsible Gaming.
White Hat Gaming has appointed Leon Thomas as its Chief Commercial Officer, responsible for overseeing sales, marketing, and partnerships as the company expands across regulated markets. Phil Gelvan, CEO of White Hat, noted Thomas's two decades of industry experience and his familiarity with both operator businesses and B2B suppliers, which positions him to understand the needs of platform partners. Thomas previously held roles at Hard Rock Digital, Entain, Microgaming, and IWG.
Yggdrasil Gaming appointed David Hopkins as Chief Transformation Officer. Hopkins has a background with Flutter and Entain, leading transformation initiatives in fast-paced environments. Yggdrasil CEO James Curwen characterized Hopkins as a critical hire, bringing strategic thinking and operational discipline needed for the company's next phase. At Yggdrasil, Hopkins will focus on streamlining operations across various departments with a strategic emphasis on its Game in a Box and Studio in a Box initiatives. The company aims to enhance its existing technology rather than developing new elements.
