Wynn Resorts unveiled a 550-meter beachfront at its Wynn Al Marjan Island development on Tuesday, providing a first look at the resort's planned shoreline amenities as construction moves forward toward its 2027 opening.
The beachfront is designed around a protected lagoon, specifically tailored for swimming and snorkeling activities. At each end of the shore, submerged rock formations enhance the aesthetic appeal and promote better water conditions.
To support marine life, the project includes a series of offshore engineered reef structures aimed at fostering marine habitat development. Wynn Resorts reports that early indications show coral and marine organisms beginning to colonize these artificial reefs. Observations of nesting osprey in the area further suggest successful ecological integration.
Max Tappeiner, president of Wynn Al Marjan Island, emphasized the development's goal, stating, "The ambition was to create a shoreline where guests can escape, somewhere they can swim in calm, clear water and enjoy the beachfront in complete privacy." Tappeiner called it “Wynn Resorts’ first beachfront destination,” adding, “Wynn Al Marjan Island gives us the opportunity to create something entirely new for our portfolio, where exceptional surroundings and intuitive service come together in a way only Wynn can deliver.”
The resort will include a fine art gallery featuring works such as paintings, 17th-century tapestries, Victorian cut glass, and an 18th-century Buccleuch vase.
Wynn Al Marjan Island, first announced in 2022, received its commercial gaming license from the UAE’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in October 2024, making Wynn the first operator to be granted a land-based license. The resort’s opening is now anticipated in September 2027, following an extension from the initial March date due to interruptions caused by ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Work was temporarily halted in February but resumed in March after implementing safety measures for employees.
In its Q2 financial release, Wynn reported contributing $48.1 million during the quarter to the development of Wynn Al Marjan Island, where the company retains a 40% stake.
