Betradar, the betting brand under Sportradar, recently showcased its latest offerings, including a virtual football game inspired by the World Cup and an innovative in-play tennis product, at the ICE Totally Gaming 2018 event. This football product builds on the popularity of Betradar's virtual European Championship Cup game that debuted during Euro 2016. Managing director Heinz Kierchhoff noted, "Customers loved it because they put it on before the real cup started and the punters loved it; they could test their luck before the real thing happened."
The virtual World Cup game mirrors the group stage of the actual tournament, launching new tournaments every hour. The in-play tennis feature presents live tennis matches in real-time, offering prizes akin to those in actual events. "With in-play, we have a whole bunch of additional prizes that we can offer. Like in real tennis, about 80% of betting happens on in-play," Kierchhoff stated.
Tennis has emerged as the most popular in-play sport globally, a finding that Betradar validated through its own research prior to this launch. Following the tennis introduction, the company is eyeing potential expansions into cricket and baseball. Kierchhoff emphasized that realism in graphics and game mechanics is vital to their product development. He explained, "A punter that bets on real football expects the same odds, the same prices, for the virtual product. And this we guarantee with close to real teams and close to real presentation of the markets."
