Mark Goldberg, the new Chief Information Officer and Vice-President of Business Technology at BCLC has been announced.
Goldberg, who will take over the BCLC’s Technology Strategy on 23 January, is the Crown Corporation’s new technology strategist. This includes the BCLC casino, lottery and sports betting operations.
Goldberg, who has been in the IT industry for more than two decades, is currently vice president of global information technology as well as real estate and facility management at Hootsuite.
He worked on developing digital transformation strategies in various sectors, including travel, hospitality and consumer products.
The BCLC’s governing board appointed Pat Davis, a former chief information officer, as CEO and President in August. He succeeded interim CEO and President Lynda Cavanaugh who held the post since January.
Leveraging Information Technology
Davis stated, “We’re so happy to welcome Mark at BCLC. His demonstrated success in using information technology to scale and grow business goals for global companies strengthens our efforts to provide truly exceptional experiences to players.”
Goldberg’s office will be in Vancouver, the office of the BCLC’s provincial operator. However, he will also travel regularly to its head office in Kamloops where over one third of the BCLC’s employees in the Business Technology division work.
Davis said: “This role is crucial, because technology underpins all aspects of our company, including the systems used to validate and purchase lottery tickets and our complex network of slots at casinos and gaming centers, and infrastructure supporting the only legal, regulated, gambling website in the province – PlayNow.com.”
The BCLC, in June of last year, announced the expansion to Saskatchewan of its online gaming platform PlayNow.com, after a partnership with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority and SaskGaming.
