Responsible Online Gaming Association launched by leading US operators

ROGA aims to spread best RG practice in the industry. BetMGM is collaborating with Bet365, DraftKings and FanDuel.

The launch announcement states that the participating companies represent more than 85% of legalised sports betting online and the igaming sector in the US. The companies have committed more than 20m dollars (PS15.8m/EUR18.5m), to help ROGA achieve its goals in the first year.

Jennifer Shatley, a former RG executive with 25 years’ experience in the industry, will be the executive director of ROGA. She will use her extensive knowledge and expertise to promote education about the subject.

Shatley will continue to serve as the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling’s president, and as a National Council on Problem Gambling member.

Shatley stated: “I’m humbled, honored and thrilled to have been selected as the new leader of ROGA in this crucial period for growth within legalised mobile gambling.

By collaborating with clear objectives, ROGA members and ROGA will enhance the protection of consumers and provide easier access to tools that promote responsible online gaming.

ROGA’s Five Key Objectives

ROGA has set five main goals that it believes will assist in achieving its goal of promoting RG Education.

ROGA has as its first objective to support research. The first of ROGA’s objectives is to promote research.

ROGA’s goal is to encourage companies to adopt best practice RG. A second goal is to increase awareness about the issue of irresponsible gaming and encourage appropriate gambling advertising.

In coordination with its members, ROGA also plans to bid for the creation of an independent data clearinghouse to assist in information sharing and protect consumers.

ROGA’s final goal is to create an independent certification program. The objective of this program is to evaluate the RG efforts made by member companies, and provide operators with a unbiased assessment of their RG processes.
