The German gaming company Gauselmann Group confirmed that it will rebrand as Merkur Group in order to reflect its digital and global direction.
After its registration in the Commercial Register, Merkur.com AG completed the official rebranding of Gauselmann AG into Merkur.com AG.
Merkur.com AG, despite its renaming will continue to be owned by the Gauselmann Family Foundation.
Paul Gauselmann commented on the new brand: “The group’s corporate identity is increasingly international and digital.” This is reflected in the name change.
Both developments will be benefited by linking our Merkur Brand to the Company Name.
Gauselmann said that the new name is an homage to Merkur’s success in the 1970s. The Merkur B was the first amusement machine with prizes.
Merkur Spielothek, the first arcade owned by the company, was the next to be opened, followed over time by a variety of games, gaming machines, and systems.
Merkur’s Chair also stressed the importance of the corporate philosophy of “continuity” and “stability”, with the websites, social media platforms, company signs, and marketing material being adapted.
Merkur showed its global business orientation in October last year after agreeing on a strategic partnership with North American gaming technology provider Gaming Arts.
