Delaware’s sports betting market soared 440% in March

In March, consumer spending in Delaware on sports betting grew by 440.0% (PS15.2m/EUR17.7m) compared to the same month last year. The state’s online gaming market saw growth as well.

Handle had a far greater impact than the $3.5m in Delaware spent in March of last year. This was up by 37.0% compared to $13.8m spent in February.

Revenues in March totaled $1.0m. It was an increase of 89.2% over the $544,385 in revenue last year, and a rise of 83.8% from $560,449 for February.

Launch of Delaware Lottery’s first online Sportsbook was the main reason for the significant increase year over year. The sportsbook, powered by Rush Street Interactive and BetRivers (RSI), went live fully in January.

Delaware Park topped the list in terms of revenue in March, with $681 548 from $13.1m bets. Harrington Raceway was second with $176,583 off $3.3m and Bally’s Dover came in third place with $113.692 from $1.5m.

The $990,664 sports bets made by Delaware retailers resulted in an additional $58,273 of monthly revenue from betting.

Online casino revenue tops $4.6m in March

The total online casino spend in March was $136.0m. The total spending in the online casino market was $136.0m, up from $41.5m a year ago and up 16.0% from February’s $117.2m.

In March, players wagered $85.3m on online video games and table games.

Total revenue for online casinos reached $4.6m. This was also a significant increase over the previous year’s total, which exceeded March 2023 by 228,6%. This was 18.0% higher than the $3.9m total in February.

Table games accounted for $1.3m, while online video generated $3.3m.

Delaware Park, a single operator, also topped the list, generating $2.0m of revenue from online table and video games. The operator’s total spend was $71.1m.

Harrington Raceway came in second place with $1.6m of igaming revenues from $38.9m. Bally’s Dover finished third with a revenue of $951.096 from $26.1m total bets.

Igaming, like the sports betting industry, has also benefited from new launches. In January, each of the three state-owned operators launched new online casinos.
