After being acquired by Betsson in the past year, Betfirst launched an online casino with Groupe Partouche’s Middelkerke Casino.

Betsson acquired the Belgian Betfirst Group for EUR120.0m ($129.8m/PS102.6m) on June 20, 2023. It also struck a partnership with Groupe Partouche to gain access to Belgium’s online casino market.

Betfirst is aiming to be the country’s “leading operator” of online casinos. The casino has received an A+ licence through its agreement with Middelkerke Casino.

Betfirst is the first online gambling operator in Belgium to have obtained a licence following regulation in 2011.

Alexis Murphy said, “Betfirst has already the fastest and best-performing sports betting application on the Belgian Market.” “We want to duplicate this success by offering the most comprehensive mobile gaming experience in Belgium.”

Betsson’s operations chief executive Jesper svenssen said: “We bought a Belgian leader in the market last summer, and are thrilled to be able add value through this unique partner.”

Belgium is another step for Betsson in its expansion

After its partnership with Groupe Partouche, the French casino operator, Betsson was bound to expand their Belgian online casino offering.

The initial focus of the partnership would be Belgium with a view to expanding to other regulated market afterward.

Groupe Partouche operates land-based casinos in France and Switzerland. In Switzerland, online casino gambling is allowed. It is illegal in France.

Betsson was also granted a license in France to provide online sports betting back in September, after announcing its entry into the Serbian Market earlier that month.
